#AgedWineTuesday This is a beautiful Brunello from Tuscany. Dry on the palate with medium acidity. Showing red and black fruits with tobacco, light oak, herbs, light vegetables, peppercorn, wet leaves, chocolates, dark coffee and graphite. Long finish with fine grain tannins and tangy raspberries. This 27 year old is showing nice complexity at this point. Still has a lot in it, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Needs 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly, be patient, you'll thank me later. Wine Enthusiasts 92 points. Wine Spectator 91 points. Delicious and complex. Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine. Aged for 2 years in oak barrels. 13% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $160.

This wine took me away. Up to the clouds, and deep in the ocean. A poetic gesture of development.

28y of age. Slightly past it’s prime Id say, aetheric, airy, with quite some mushroomy undergrowth. Shows a herby, medicinal note after some time. Very, very mellow with some dried tomato, dried cherry, a bit of Balsamico. Surprisingly fresh on the palate, zingy acidity, with the tannins still with good grip. There’s good presence, depth is fading but the bright cherry still is there, even in the aftertaste. Unexpectedly good. What a treat!

#brunello #twenty years old... Aged elegantly and harmoniously: berries, chocolate, spice in a dark brown robe. I do not regret stopping me uncorking it 200 times...
