Tenuta Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2011

"The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a terrific wine for the year. Sweet red cherry, plum, tobacco, mint, sweet spices and orange peel are all front and center. This is a gorgeous 2011 Brunello that represents everything the vintage can be; open-knit, accessible and polished. I don't expect the 2011 will be a long-term ager, but it is exceptionally beautiful and delicious today." Vinous 94

Grabbed another bottle from the cellar. Wow! Ruby red with aromas of red berry fruit and woody spice. On the palate flavors of sweet cherry, dark berry and plum, fine silky tannins, savory, well balanced with cacao and gentle pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cedar oak and peppery spice notes. Caparzo makes great Brunello’s, at a great price, so grab one, you won’t be disappointed. The ‘11 is tasting great and still has room to run.

(Fine Wine Distributors)

Ripe, luscious cherries. Dark chocolate. Dried tobacco leaves. Mild tannins. Paired perfectly with our pasta dish.

Cherry/strawberry, dried in character, great tannin and acid, tannins smooth. Tomato leaf and slight balsamic..I thought it was great.

This shows plenty of Sangiovese character, bright spicy red cherry fruit & grainy tannins. It doesn't show the depth & layers one expects from Brunello. Overall, a solid Tuscan. Ready to enjoy right now.
