Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

$199.99

As Robert Parker says, “if there is a Chateau Margaux to be found in Napa Valley, it is... Spottswoode." Incredible blueberries, blackberries, black walnuts, minerals, black licorice and flowers. Full-bodied, very tight and structured with hints of hazlenuts, fine chocolate and hints of minerals and spices. A solid and classic-styled Napa Valley cab. Layered and very fine." JS 98/WA 96+

First time trying the flagship bottling from Spottswoode Estate. Deep ruby red. Restrained on the nose with definite oak influence as well as dark red berries and sweet spices, cinnamon. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Dark restrained fruits on the palate as well, black currants, cassis, black cherries and a touch stoney in the super long finish. Slightly dry too. This is just a baby and would not open another for another five years or so. Drink till 2033.

Starts off Cab and finishes Merlot. The perfect wine.

Valentine's Day wine- not as good as expected. Better in glass after 3-4 hours- but needed a lot more air

Surprisingly light for a cab. Fruit forward but balanced.
