Patricia Green Cellars Estate Vineyard Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir 2014

As Jim Anderson says, "Exhibits broodingly dark fruit intertwined with loamy, earthy characteristics and finishes with gripping tannins that give the wine form. This is Pinot Noir for those with darker souls and, perhaps, some devious intentions. Don’t bring this bottle home to your mama because she is going to have a talk with you later." Lush and powerful, but poised and pretty, too.

Vivid red. Deep-pitched aromas of fresh blackberry and cherry show hints of violet, cola and orange zest in the background. Supple and broad in the mouth; juicy dark fruit and floral pastille flavors are given lift and spine by a jolt of tangy acidity. Powerful yet lithe, finishing with solid thrust, sneaky tannins and very good length. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Dec 2016)

JL Oregon tasting 9/12/17. $32. 679 cases. Got more of the funk and minty notes on nose than Balcombe more like Cousins. A sweeter yet more acidic balance on palate with a bit of bitter melon and spicy notes on finish. Interesting but not as pure delicious as Balcombe. Dry farmed with spring water that's hard with lots of minerals this that bite. Not so for Balcombe.

Smooth and delicious with a bit of herbal peppery flavors on the back end. Smooth tannins...Bigger than I expected but enough going on (there must be a technical word for this)....to keep it bright

Drank with Larry on 10/31/16 with a stuffed pork chop dinner. It has a bitter edge and really didn't fit our expectations for a pinot.
