Paolo Conterno Riva del Bric Barolo Nebbiolo 2011

$54.99

This is from younger vines in the famed Ginestra vineyard that managed to weather the heat of 2011 and deliver a ripe, rich, Barolo that you'll struggle to wait for. "This is fabulous Barolo with burnt orange, blackberry, meat, earth, and fresh herb. Full-bodied, round and velvety. So flavorful and crazy. Drink now. Why wait? But it will age wonderfully." JS 97

Pretty bloody tight this young, a lesson for next time. It did open up beautifully and showed it's dried cherry and some cranberry, potpourri, tar and a touch of a metalic note. Again, would love to revisit down the track

Feeling nostalgic so took a trip down memory lane. Drank over 2 nights. On day 1 this was super tannic and not giving a whole lot, although you could tell this was going to be a special wine with time. Corked and put half back in the fridge. On day 2 - Holly Molly, firing on all cylinders! Beautiful rose petals, tar and bananas. Yes, bananas in a Barolo! Amazing vino!
