Glen Manor Vineyards T. Ruth Merlot Blend 2012

9.010 ratings on Delectable
$39.99

One of Virginia's most decorated winemakers, Jeff White, made a "Right Bank" style Bordeaux blend to complement the former Governor's Cup winning "Left Bank" Hodder Hill. It's a blend of 57% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon from the fine 2012 harvest. Plenty of rich, plummy, blackcurrant and berry fruit to go with notes of crushed herb, smoke and bitter chocolate.

A new wine for the winery, this is a ruby glass with blue Merlot fruit on the nose, soft and sweet blue fruit up front, very easy drinking with good acid but not many overt tannins.

Great virginia reds at glen manor. High altitude vineyards, steep slope, facing west - explains the flavor ripeness not commonly seen in virginia reds
