E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend 2012

$14.99

As always, a tremendous Rhone value. "Spice- and smoke-accented cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied violet and cracked pepper. Spicy, energetic and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that open up slowly with air. Smooth tannins and excellent closing thrust and persistence." Vinous 91/WA 90

Deadset unreal value. Dark fruits, black tea, pepper and herbal. Good front and mid palate weight, lacks drive and focus. But all in balance and drinks a treat

Totally predictable but delicious - beautiful balance - love the dark fruits and sourness

Awesome value. Spice, brambly/rustic fruit, minerality, and wild herbs. Yum.

Classic Rhone. Wild fruit, wet stone, incense, spice and nice acid. Lots going on for the moderate price tag.

Less peaceful than the main act but still pretty easy drinking.

Never disappoints. Smoky, meaty aromas with a pleasing mouthfeel. Inexpensive and gets the job done.

Decanted for approximately 40 minutes. Blend of Syrah, Grenache, and a smidgen of Mourvèdre. The best vintage of this I think I’ve had. Generous with the red and black fruits, soft but firming tannins on the back end and posses a long finish. Great structure and balance. Surprised that I found a vintage of this age for a basic CDR at a grocery store and it is showing really well. Fantastic QPR. $14 @ H-E-B.
