Domaine des Baumard Savennières Chenin Blanc 2012

$21.99

Savennieres, just across the river from the sweet wine region of Cote du Layon, is one of the great sites for dry Chenin Blanc. This is a brilliant introduction to the style. Exotic aromas of peach, tart pear, green plum, honey suckle and crushed herb lead to bold flavors of peach, quince, honey, and bitter herb. Rich and nicely dense but bone dry through the long, wildly complex, finish.

Wet wool, orange peel, bitter almond. The bitterness is persistent on the finish.

@Ryan O'Connor you inspired me to get my chenin on for national escargot day. (Had some oysters with it too.)

Tasted blind with tacos, couldn't have been more far off. Came back to it the next day and was pretty close. Bruised apple, texture, slightly oxidized, really good.

Tons of mineral on the nose; bright acid on the palette; citrus and mineral flavors, funk, wet wool, tart green apple; subtle perfume on finish
