Clos Siguier Cahors Malbec 2012

$16.99

A blend of 90% Malbec and 10% Tannat from 60 year-old vines that's fermented in tank and allowed to rest and soften in old casks. Dark, tangy, and honest with sour cherry fruit, crushed herb, and loads of minerality. Not Mendoza fruity, but not the impenetrable "black wine" that made Cahors famous in the 1300s. Firm on the finish and perfect for stew or roasts.

Soft, easy, approachable Malbec with black cherry, prune, green herbs and ground chocolate. Good for near-term consumption.

Lovely style of Cahors; juicy yet firm enough. Just screams for rustic fare. Cassoulet perhaps?

Nice fruit and lots of spice. Better with time in bottle.

Smooth tannins with notes of blue fruit. Enjoyed even more as the evening progressed and it had time to breathe.

Incredibly tart unless paired with food. If eating the tartness accentuates the flavors in your food. Should be allowed to breathe.

Very mellow taste though smells earthy and sharp. I'd probably drink this again if I was eating heavy flavorful foods, but wouldn't drink it by itself. A bit diluted taste.
