Bollinger La Grande Année Brut Champagne Blend 2007

$154.99

A classic Bollinger with pretty oak shadings and good depth without sacrificing elegance and grace. "Super attractive lemon essence and lime pickle on the nose, with toasty warmth and some bright, almost tropical fruits. The palate has a very open and appealing feel. Deep flavors are delivered in a generous sweeping texture, with toasty rise at the finish. Drink young." JS 93/WS 94

This was from class last Thursday. It was heaviest of the beverages that day. More of a charred toast character. But I like things dark. Beyond toast there are pears, lime zest, and big bold stones and yet all this weaves together seamlessly. I also need more.

Bollinger's 2007 Brut La Grande Année is quite pretty. Elegant, restrained and understated in style, the 2007 is one of the more delicate young Grande Années I can remember tasting. Mid-weight structure and silky texture only reinforce that impression. Lemon oil, red berry, dried flowers and chamomile open up nicely, but it is the wine's overall feel that stands out most. Best of all, the 2007 will drink well with no cellaring. Disgorged: September 2016. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2017)

A preview of the almost released 2007 with Dennis Bruner in San Francisco. A return to the more mineral style of the 2004, but still loaded with lovely brioche and dark cherry fruit.

This is my favorite among the whole series of Bollinger’s champagne so far. Elegant, punchy and smooth at the same time with the right acidity. Merci!
