Bodegas LAN Crianza Rioja Tempranillo 2012

$11.99

An old favorite gets a snazzy new label but keeps the old-school style and quality intact. It's 95% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo selected from 10 to 20 year-old vines aged 18 months in barrels with American oak staves and French oak tops/bottoms. Lots of sweet red fruit plus accents of spice and vanilla show on the nose and palate and linger on the nicely juicy finish.

Leather and Rose Petals on the nose. Dark fruits on the pallet. Light on oak. Alcohol really comes to the front. A bit astringent, but drinkable and a good value.

Decent wine from the Rioja region of Spain! 2012 vintage, so it's of a decent age
