Block Nine Caiden's Vineyards Pinot Noir 2015

$14.99

This has been one of Robert Parker's favorite "value" Pinot Noirs over the past few years; as he said of the 2013, "An authentic tasting Pinot Noir that sells for a song...Aromas of sweet red and black cherry fruit intermixed with clove and baking spices are offered in a medium-bodied, earthy, soft, silky style." Another solid release in the fine 2015 vintage and still a great deal. Fun stuff.

Needed a while to open up. Mild smokey finish with very light tannins.

Meaty wine, with low tannins and sourness slightly comes in at end, high fruit, lots of plums, not too sweet, so clean and balanced

Totally drinkable Pinot. A bit unusual in taste - darker flavors than a typical Pinot, but a smooth drink nevertheless. Great everyday wine.

Smooth but complex, some kind of earthy notes?

Definitely light; sweet and thin. Worked better with the spice of an etouffee than a spring-fresh risotto. Fine as a house bottle/glass, but nothing to seek out.
