Not much flavor left with this bottle. Still has tannins on the finish but disappointed the characteristics of Alexander valley are not showing with this cab.

Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds. I’ve had the AV ‘07 a few times over the last year and notes are consistent. Classic American oak notes of dill and coconut, with tobacco leaves and dusty blackberries. Balanced. Palate showed cocoa dusted dates, fig, and blackberries. I called this Cali cab with American oak. Thanks @Benjamin Keator

Lots of fun to try the 07 side by side with the new 2014. The 07 was still very youthful but delightfully evolved. Not quite secondary yet but there is some nice truffle and earth developing in bottle. This is in a great spot but probably even better in 5ish years

October birthday celebrations for my father-in-law, sister-in-law and my wife this past weekend! My father-in-law has a nice collection of older Napa cabs and he wanted to check in on this. I found it to actually taste fairly young. There wasn’t as much punch in regards to the flavor of the fruit (lots of blackberry, currant) but the tannins were very much in play. Reminded me of a right bank Bordeaux, actually. Dusty graham cracker, blackberry, potpourri. Secondary notes of leather and herbs are starting to come through on the finish.

This was a surprise of the day. When I got in to drinking fine wine, I naturally passed over Silver Oak. No real reason, but I just wanted to seek out the smaller, more boutique producers. This was great today! Absolutely smooth. Cherry liqueur, teakwood, milk chocolate, and very little tannic bite. I’d drink up if you have ‘em.

Perfect for drinking now. Smooth, rich with lots of good fruit. Nice dark berry flavors along with notes of coffee and wood. Fantastic with red meat.

Needs age, don't get anything younger than 5 years. This magnum can hang out for a while.
