Combines soft, plush plum and dry, tart cranberry, and then wraps them in toasted caramel. Secondary herbs and spices give just enough seasoning to call this interesting, but this is all about the fruit and the texture.

Had another bottle of this outstanding 50th Anniversary wine, celebrating their 1966 founding. Deep ruby with ripe black fruit aromas and spice notes for this Bordeaux blend. On the palate Merlot dominates this blend with very smooth texture and flavors of fresh ripe blackberry and cherry with notes of tobacco, cacao and espresso. The finish lingers nicely on this well balanced wine ending with a touch of minerality.

Robert Mondavi 50th anniversary Maestro red blend. Definitely can smell the oak influence here, as should be expected. The wine is big and bold and assertive, with no in between. It's a tribute to a Napa icon, and it shows.
