It's so good to be back upstate! Color wise this is the darkest red I've ever seen - if not for the purple rim I'd swear this was black. I gave this a torturous 5 hour decant (I literally circled the wine waiting to try it - I remembered how much I loved it when we visited Promontory and that was about 3 years ago). Red berries, earth and spice on the nose - I smelled fennel then was corrected by my better half: licorice. This is a young, BIG wine, super smooth, lots of cassis, dark red fruit and oak. It's not heavy though. Very enjoyable. This could age 15 years and still be delicious I think. And after the crap I drank at various relatives houses over the last 72 hours (including what I swear was Box wine that still tasted like crap even after 5 glasses) I'm thrilled to have this in my glass. This has gotten better as the night has gone on which to me just says this needs a very serious decant (8+ hrs).

This is absolutely amazing wine. The 2009 had more Bordeaux qualities than the 2010. The 2010 is big Napa valley Cabernet fruit. The nose is a lot of blueberries, cassis, and an all spice note. On the palate the fruit and tannin are in perfect harmony. We decanted this wine for 3 hours and it has just opened up beautifully. This wine will last for many years to come.

WOW. This one had it all for me. Just now entering it’s drinking window. Only disappointment was not giving it more air.
