My first Cabernet Sauvignon from Morlet Family Vinyards—I've only been lucky enough to taste and have been dazzled by their sublime Chardonnays. That said, the 2010 Mon Chevalier didn't disappoint, displaying classic Knight's Valley character, it's a treasure trove of cassis, black currants, incense and sandalwood, tar and menthol. Black pepper and spice box. The palate is a layered as the nose, with a dark-fruited succulent core framed in an understory of fine, mouthcoating tannins. 15.0% ABV

Big and rich and balanced with great fruit and integration and great potential for some age. Nice nose, palate and finish. Mod long finish. Lovely.

This is my Hurricane Harvey wine. After being housebound by flooding for 6 days I decided to open this gem from Morlet which shows all the classic Knight's Valley character I love. It is a treasure of cassis, black currants, incense and sandalwood, tar and menthol. Black pepper and spice box. The palate is a layered as is the nose, with a succulentdark fruit core framed with understated, fine,, mouthcoating tannins. 15.0% alcohol

Kinda a hot mess... But I get lots of fruit without any elegance or structure. It is long on the palate. And it does drink well with fatty food... Which means it's still pretty good ... But it lacks ... It's not worth what I paid for it.

One hot mess. Drank over several days and no improvement. Lots of heat on the finish with no fruit to speak of.
