Took about 2 hours to open up. A touch oaky at first and too much body but became balanced after awhile.

Blend of 87% Cab Sauv, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cab Franc sourced from estate-owned vineyards, aged 24 months in 100% new French oak. Deep Ruby, dark fruits, spice, complex nose. On the palate flavors of rich berry fruits, spice and vanilla oak, well structured harmonious wine. Fine soft rich tannins, long finish ending with fruit, tobacco and sweet earthy tones. Tasting great, young and juicy, should easily last another couple of decades+ in the bottle. Wow!

What a great refined wine. The 2018 Insignia opens with aromas of dark fruit, florals, and spice. On the palate, blackberry, mocha, and plum come through with a nice texture and tannins. The finish is long, savory, and elegant. Wow!

The “Black Label” edition of the ‘18 vintage for 50th anniversary of the winery, with 3% Cab from the Backus vineyard - a first time for Insignia. Not sure that makes a difference. Truly an exceptional wine even by Insignia standard. Complex notes of blackberry, red plum, cassis, cedar, tobacco, baking spices, menthol, and light forest floor that do not try to overwhelm your senses. Power and grace on the palate with impeccable balance. Drinking beautifully now but patience will be rewarded.

An outstanding red blend thathas huge mouth feel that lingers for an eternity on the pallet. Full aroma and an intense red color. Minerality with red cherry.
