Founded in 1996, Ca'Marcanda is an offshoot project of GAJA. That being the case, my expectations were high—I was not disappointed. The 2000 opens with sumptuous aromas of violets, saddle leather, dust, cherry and red currant. Poised and elegantly textured, fine, velvety tannins encase a core of pure fruit. This sensational Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cab Franc blend is just beautiful now. Finishes with notes of bouquet garni, sweet tobacco and baking spice.
