Superb wine. Needs until 2023. Great balance and depth. Dusty black earth and black fruit. Moderate finish.

Artichokes, tar, black olives, and prune juice. Nose is muted. Palate is balanced. Well made. Does not live up to the reputation.

Very closed initially. Opened up beautifully after decanting and being in the glass for 15-20 minutes. One of my fav Italian producers. Delicious carmelized flavors of mature dark cherries with hints of plums, subtle herbs, coffee and leather. Amazing how wonderful these old Gaja Barberescos drink.
