The 2013 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a total beauty from Randy and Mike Dunn. This refined and beautifully made Cabernet begins with alluring aromatics of dark cherries and blackberries, which are laced with spring florals, tobacco and graphite nuances. This showcases the Dunn’s signature winemaking style of a beautifully structured and balanced Cabernet. It continues to impress with gorgeous ripe fruit and outstanding precision and tension that pulls it all together. It's no secret that the Dunn’s are making some of Napa Valley’s finest wines up on Howell Mountain and this is a testament to the effort and experience they put into their wines. A sensational Cabernet with a long, bright future ahead.

On the nose, bramble fruits of; wild blackberries, plum, raspberries & sweet dark cherries. Green pepper, vanilla, salted caramel, dark soils and fresh & dry dark florals. The body is medium lean, tannins are extremely soft & round. Wild blackberries, plum, raspberries, sweet dark cherries, green pepper, black oil, wood shavings, dry stone, black cherry cola, vanilla, salted caramel, dark soils and fresh & dry dark florals. The acidity pours over the palate. The finish is not quite there but Randy's wines are 20 plus year wines. However, it's well balanced with 50-50 fruit and earth. Dunn Howell has never disappointed. This holds true for the new 2013. The climate that year shows through in the marked black berry fruit presence. The tannins are ever present and will help keep this beauty for 20 years to come!

Deep and dark ruby red. Thick, rich and rounded nose with tons of layers; bramble berries, twigs, baking spices, cinnamon sticks, black and blue fruits. Heavy tannins (8/10) with a beautiful texture, not silky but a little gritty to match this powerful wine. Big and full palate with dark fruits, black cherries, twigs and a little earthy. Full bodied with a super long finish. Drink from 2019 till 2048. (94+)

Here’s a gem from Howell Mountain AVA, Napa Valley! Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain, Cabernet Sauvignon (2013). It’s a deep ruby wine with subtle garnet influences. The nose and palate offer medium(+) intensity of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, plum, blackberries, blueberry, creme de cassis, violet, black licorice, anise, cedar, pencil shavings, tobacco, leather, clove, balsamic, olive, peat, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg… On the palate, this wine is dry with medium alcohol (13.9%), medium(+) acidity, a medium(+) body, and high tannins that are silky smooth and fine grained. The finish lingers. It’s absolutely delicious - cheers!!
