Still going strong but happy I drank it now. A wine that is linear in texture, less viscous- think whole milk and not heavy cream. Fresh black olives, tart black currant and plum with leathery notes. Tannins are gripping but fine and integrated- no soft velvety micro-oxygenated tannin here. Structurally very pleasant and balanced.

Dark purple. Interesting nose. Notes of black cherry, volcanic ash, mocha and some dry earth. The fruit is very light, and the mouth feel is somewhat missing in the mid palate. This was consistent with other 99 Cal Cabs we’ve had.

In an absolute beautiful place. Intense, highly expressive and layered with black raspberries, currants, leather, cedar, hints of red flowers and licorice. Finishes with excellent length, depth and dusty tannins. Terrific bottle.
