The punishment beatings will continue until submission. Drew came with this bad boy from his cellar. Cork disintegrated. Nose is peaty with mushroom and wood. Youthful on the palate with initial berry notes. Bright acidity has enabled this wine to sail on. Tertiary notes combine with resolved tannins. Lovely, mature wine. First growth in Napa for sure. Drew’s rating.- 94 pts.

Day 1- really tightly wound mostly savory bits, fennel, and huge strong tannins. not sure why I didn’t dump it. Day3- fruit is out to play, tannins settled down and all kinda of wonderful interesting tidbits. Nice acidity and long finish. Really good! So a 87 on day 1, and 95 day 3. Think ahead.

1995 vintage. Living up to its reputation. Very mineral nose (graphite) with still a lot of dark fruit and a hint of leather. Concentrated,yet very elegant, with layers of dark berry fruit, profound and beautifully balanced, long mineral finish. Still a lot of life ahead.
