What better way to celebrate my 30th birthday than with a bottle of birth year wine, at the monthly 4th Friday event and with other incredible wines around...AND my 1,000 bottle of wine! What an absolute incredible bottle for 30-yr old Napa Cab. Randy Dunn sure knows how to make them, even in tough vintages. I got zero green pepper out of this. Dark fruit middle that is surrounded by red fruit (rhubarb, black cherry) and an incredible tannic structure that only Howell Mtn Wines can provide. Best ‘88 Napa I’ve had.

Birth year wine!!! Dried up shriveled brambly fruit, stinky old leather, roasted red peppers, decaying underbrush. Tannins are ironed out, acidity is balanced. 13% alcohol--good luck finding that now. I would curl up in bed next to this wine.
