Absolutely excellent pape clement. At 21 years this is still quite primary, which confirms the general view that the 2005s will last forever (and likely longer than the 2000s). Paired with a rack of lamb for Easter, absolutely perfect. Delicious.

Last had this nearly 5 years ago, and certainly in a better place now - but still could go longer, even with a 3 hour decant. At first too tight, too dense, too much oak…but with this time this reveals to a more classic Bordeaux. Wonderful with some beautiful lamb chops with a green olive gremolata.

A crash course in how to spoil great raw material with excessive extraction and poorly handled wood.

This still needs more time. Red fruits, licorice, earth, mineral and cigar box.
