For the holidays we had the pleasure of having the 2008 Château Palmer. A Left Bank Bordeaux from Margaux and a blend of of 51% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. A beautiful bottle of Bordeaux, drinking well right now with many years ahead of it. On the nose there is black cherry, bkackberry, black currant, licorice, spice, cedar and earth. On the palate there are notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, mocha, licorice, spice, graphite and earth. This wine is full bodied with a beautiful smooth supple mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + chewy tannins that leaves you with a long black fruit woodsy finish. What a wonderful bottle a great way to begin the holidays. I hope everyone has had a great holiday. Continued joy and happiness into this coming new year. Please, continued good health and stay safe. More mature, defined and complex than the 2006 today. More red fruit character, graphite and herbs on the nose. Palate is still very youthful and primary but there’s great energy and lift and a powerful mineral streak running all the way through.
