The most showy bottle I’ve had of this wine, 95 Mouton is in a terrific place, and an absolute classic, with Paulliac power and concentration, fine grained tannins and hugely persistent finish. Fantastic with the legendary EMP duck!

The palate is concentrated and powerful with a silky texture and incredible length. 95 is nowhere near its peak. Many more years to go. And while I’ll never be a real Bordeaux lover, it’s clear what makes these first growths special.

The 1995 Mouton is just stunning. It's a pretty big wine but has amazing freshness. The season was ripe but the grapes were picked early. Perhaps this contributes to the menthol and sage notes that complement the ripe plums, cherries, leather and tobacco. Structurally it is stunning with soft resolved tannins. The finish is long with all the elements unfolding beautifully. Stunning.
