If blinded I would have thought California as this was fat, ripe with sweet black cherry, lots of spice box & licorice.

This had good balance & weight with no overripeness showing notes of dark fruits, spice box & tobacco

Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee and this was a special treat as not only was Weston from Montagu Wines in attendance, but Jason Moore, owner and winemaker for Modus Operandi Wines out of Napa. Blind format as always. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert. I thought this was an older version of the Fonplegade. Very similar noses of sweet fruit and oak. Almost American oak like (coconut, dill). Very dark fruit dominant, but the finish on this was more red/rhubarb and cherry liqueur. Some tar as well.

Looking forward to a great experience with wine at the Bells while we Waterhouse super bowl. The first sip is smooth , full , intense , memorable. Bouquet is that typical French nose that you always question.. going to decant and wait to see what it does

Had nice elements, but was too harsh. Still could use mellowing and depth.
