Classic lunch bags. Inky sour cherry and stony grippy fruit. Really straight down the line bordeaux. Classic.

The 1995 Lynch-Bages has a well-defined bouquet with intense blackberry, undergrowth and tobacco scents. Bold and lifted, this is a nose that wants to make an impression. The palate has more concentration and tannic backbone than others in this era. Dark berry fruit mixes with cola and black pepper, and tobacco comes through toward the finish with an austere, grippy finish. This would benefit from decanting for a couple of hours and is a bit of a bruiser, though not without charm. Tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2023)

Exquisite and impressive. Firm color loaded with kirsch, red and dark currant flavors and the presence of horse sweat, horse blanket and leather. Even a red rose aroma. Tannin is light and impressively balanced. Holds its presence two hours plus decanted. With soft tannins that eventually fell into the glass. I predict this wine would hold well 15-20 years

Sweet black & red currants, black cherry cola, strawberry licorice, steeped black tea, a whiff of soft spice, candied black earth and an amazing long round elegant finish that lingers a long time on your palate. It's in a very good place.

Awww. A revisit to my first bottle of Bordeaux. I remember finding it more interesting in 2000.

A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, aged for 15 months in French oak (70% new). Deep red with, brown edges, ripe fruit flavors and earthy spice. Tasting very well and showing its age, has plum flavors a touch of sweet spice with soft tannins. Well balanced, lingering with heavy earthy tones on the ending.

Fruit still had lush moments upon decanting for the guest and the tannins were surprisingly smoothed out; turned a bit uneventful after the 3rd pour.

Fun to try and still drinkable but this bottle was well past its prime.
