#AgedWineTuesday This is a delicious 18 year old Cabernet Sauvignon blend from bordeaux. Showing a gorgeous nose at this point. Dry on the palate and nicely balanced. Full-bodied with medium acidity. Showing blackberries, black plums, black cherries, earth, tobacco, cedar, licorice, vanilla, light wet leaves, herbs and black pepper. Loved the long finish here. This Third Growth is rich and elegant. Complex and tasty. This great 2005 vintage is showing wonderfully now. Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. I had other vintages of this wine, and this vintage is definitely the best so far for me. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime. Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine. Wine Enthusiasts 93 points. Wine Spectator 93 points. A blend of 52 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. 94 points. $120.

Château Margaux from 2005 is one of my favorite wines. Kirwan shows that the vintage shone fondly over other sites in the area. Cherry and mocha meld together, tannins grippy, texture velvety. Jolly good with a nice big slice of lamb shoulder at the East India club with a dear old friend.

375 mL. The third-growth neighbour to Brane-Cantenac. Kirwan seems to have had few friends among the critics, although it is carefully run and at its best (1961, '70, '75, '79) is as long-lived and classic as any one of the Margaux second-growths, making elegant, feminine claret. Michel Rolland has consulted here since 1992 and its wine has gained fruit, weight, and oak.

Elegant and smooth, yet intense attack. The finish is more muted and the tannins are very soft. Powerful licorice and earth flavors. At the end of its life but still kicking. Probably the last year to consume this wine, but ready to drink now.

Cherry fruit, graphite, river rocks, and structure tannins make this a wonderful vintage. Enjoy!

I hate to do this, but this wine is eerily similar to the 2000 vintage I had so see that note. Obviously very consistent wine that is unique and just something about it that really appeals to me! Just can’t put my finger on it.

Leather, dark fruit, smooth mid-palate. Good finish.

Påtagligt tuff tanninstruktur för att vara 12 år gammalt. Rik, bred, klassisk cab sauvignon-dominerad druvmix där det mesta är på plats. Säker ännu godare om 10 år. Straffspark till tunt skivad gillad biff.
