Drinking nicely but still quite youthful. The nose shows ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, black plum skin, plum, poached strawberries & and soft mix of purple & blue fruit hues. Dark spice but not overpowering, chocolate fudge/pudding, dry tobacco, leather, sandalwood, some nutmeg & clove, vanillin, crushed limestone, dry river stones, dark, rich earth, soft herbaceous notes, hint of eucalyptus, brambly/dry twig, dry top soil, delicious lead pencil notes, moist volcanic ash, withering; dark, red, blue flowers framed in violets, very good acidity with a well balanced, nice structured & tensioned finish that lasts 90 seconds. Excellent w/ the Bone in Ribeye. This has 15-20 years of good drinking life in it. @Cole’sChopHouseNapa.

Opens up in the decanter! A treat! Grippy tannins with light acid. Starts with strong notes of black berry and tobacco. Very light on the mid pallet with a long finish. Wonderful nose.

Very nice Kirwan from what most consider an off year. Definitely give it some time to open, but it does not need a ton more bottle age.

Clocking in at only 13% abv, this third growth vintage 2003 is an absolute stunner. Suave and sophisticated, abundant fruit, nice acid to balance, minerality, well integrated tannins and long finish! For maximum enjoyment decant 1 hour or more before imbibing. And yes it has amazing aging ability, this wine is still clearly a youngster, full of youthful ambitions!
