One of our favorite new best buys in California Zinfandel from newcomer Valravn. Highly recommended. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast: "This sleek, elegant wine holds a surprising amount of concentrated blackberries, raspberries and strawberries on a silky texture soothed by light tannins. Layers of fruit keep revealing more black fruits, mint and black pepper notes. Best from 2025-2032." The 2022 Valravn Zinfandel is juicy and exuberant, bursting with black fruits, raspberry liqueur, and spiced rhubarb. Sappy and unctuous with notes of Mexican chocolate, licorice, sweet spice, and tobacco. 92% Zinfandel, 8% Petite Sirah & Grenache This is the brainchild of three bad-ass industry veterans that wanted to make the best damn Zinfandel for the most affordable price, and they deliver in spades! Fruit is sourced from select heritage vines (50-120 years old!) and the resulting wine is really juicy and concentrated; black and blue berries just bursting from the glass. Bright acidity keeps this full- bodied beauty from being too heavy. Dark chocolate and the slightest hint of black peppercorn mingle with the ripe berries through the long finish. This Zin shows some serious pedigree! Valravn Zinfandel has been based on old, bush-pruned vines averaging 40 years old (some over 100) across the county’s best appellations. The 2022 vintage is Zinfandel from two Dry Creek Valley parcels (one sandy loam, the other volcanic) and a Russian River AVA plot. We also included Petite Sirah and Grenache, which were cofermented with the Zinfandel for added complexity. Hand harvested, hand sorted, and gently destemmed before fermentation.
