Turley Ueberroth Vineyard Zinfandel 2014

$87

95 points                                 Limited new release 95 Points Robert Parker: "From one of the more famous Turley vineyards (planted in 1885), the 2014 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard comes from a site just down the street from the James Berry Vineyard of Justin Smith and his beloved Saxum Winery. It tips the scales at a whopping 16.1% natural alcohol. This is another killer Zinfandel with terrific minerality, focus and precision, but with thick, rich, blueberry and black raspberry flavors, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a stunningly long finish. This is a profound example of Zinfandel at its best and another compelling reason why Larry Turley and his staff have, for more than two decades, made some of the most prodigious Zinfandels in California. Drink it over the next 7-8 years."

The extreme Paso acid is still dominant, overwhelming this typically lighter, fruity Zin. Give this a couple more years.

2014. Interesting transition in this wine. Acidic and sour upon first taste. Next day fruit was much more apparent.
