Turley Pesenti Vineyard Zinfandel 2013

$65

Very limited new Turley Zin release. 94 Points Robert Parker:  "From the estate, the 2013 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard (15.9%) comes from vines planted in the 1920s on primarily limestone soil. This wine smells like an exploding black cherry fruit bomb. Gorgeous notes of kirsch liqueur and raspberries, an almost laser-like minerality and crispness are present in this full-bodied, beautiful wine, which seems remarkably light on its feet for its power and richness. Blind-tasted, this wine could easily pass for an old vine Grenache from a Mediterranean climate – it’s that Grenache-like. This full-bodied, stunningly pure beauty is another great success for Turley in 2013. Drink it over the next decade. . "

Delish with a 2 hour decant. Pairs well with chipotle bison burgers.

Turley's Zinfandel at his strongest! The kind of wine that keeps you warm but doesn't burn!

16% alcohol!! Where did they hide it? So well balanced it's like magic.

Love this stuff. Exotic and polychromatic, a cornucopia of flowers, fruits and spices. Lots of density, but like Grenache, I think that's probably where Zin is most comfortable. Big wine for sure, but somehow elegant and voluptuously proportioned. There's definitely something very Jessica Rabbit about this wine.

Followed the dogtown zin from same vintage and noticeably different wines. Lighter in color and more subdued but great smoothness and finish.

Raspberry and rhubarb notes. Finish was a bit overly dry but overall very nice for Thanksgiving.
