Torrin The Maven James Berry Vineyard Grenache Syrah 2012

$69.99

From one of Paso Roble's up-and-coming superstars, this new release is extremely limited.  The vineyard was planted by Justin Smith of Saxum and Eric Jensen from Booker.  Scott Hawley is owner and winemaker, with very small production each year. 95 Points Robert Parker: "The 2012 The Maven was tasted as a final blend and is 91% Grenache and 9% Syrah that was aged in 30% new puncheons. Coming from two south-facing plots, it has classic kirsch and blackberry fruit to go with plenty of chalky minerality, wild herbs and hints of pepper on the nose. This all comes together nicely on the palate, and this full-bodied, concentrated barrel sample has lots of tannic grip and a big finish. Like the 2011, it is an age-worthy Grenache that will benefit from short-term cellaring and have 10-15 years of longevity."
