Inaugural release! The new vintage of Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon has arrived! The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is the latest companion release to our most popular and best-selling red wine every year: Winemaker Notes: "The wine has a dense red and black hue that is framed in vibrant crimson. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig and vanillin oak accents are persistent. The entry is powerful and generous supported with lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously. Soft, integrated tannin chains allow the wine to be approachable now and provides for a pleasant finish.

This is a blend, nothing less from Prisoner: Cab with Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah and splash of Charbono, aged for 15 months in French and American oak (55% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of vanilla, oak and cinnamon. Fine tannins, long finish, lively acidity, nice mouthfeel ending with fruit and spice. Nice!

The nose shows black cherry, cassis, sandalwood, baking spices, and just hint of green bell pepper. Ripe and juicy on the palate leaning towards a bit jammy, but there is sufficient acidic lift. Silky tannins. Long candied finishes. I really like The Prisoner wines, and this is no exception. Have a good 8-10 years ahead.

I absolutely love this cabernet sauvignon by The Prisoner Wine Company. This is the 2019 and it is fabulous. I want a case of this for my cellar. Gentle bouquet of violets and daisies. Wonderfully smooth dark berries on the beginning rounded out with chocolate and licorice. The finish is very buttery and dry. Then comes the oaky polish on the ending.

You know how they say: “certain bottles speak to you?” Well, this one just did, for metaphorical reasons, of course… Like a message in a bottle! Unto reality this is a very approachable, balanced, slight fruity, tannic, Napa Cab with signature acidity and a long finish. Better than expected, and sum. Cheers.
