The Prisoner Wine Company Saldo California Zinfandel 2018

$29.99

Fantastic new Zinfandel from the The Prisoner Wine Co! Extremely limited new release - get your allocation before it sells out. Saldo is a delicious blend of Zinfandel & Petite Sirah. Through the success of the Prisoner label, the winery has gained access to some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in Nothern California and made a high quality Zinfandel that doesn't fit the constraints of a single appelation. The result? SALDO. 93 Points Brix26:  "The Saldo has a dark ruby color and intense aromas of dark cherry, cocoa powder and baking spice. The entry is rich and full, and leads into a broad mid palate with concentration and density, backed by lively acidity. The texture is soft and the tannins are polished. The finish is long with persistent notes of chocolate, berry and vanilla bean."

Distinguishable California Orin Swift: quality, precision, and subtle elegance. Yes! I know the difference and sell-off between The Prisoner Wine Company and Orin Swift, but in wine as in all else, roots are roots, right? Medium purple color. The nose is expressive with jammy drak and red berry scents, as well as cinnamon, sweet tobacco and dry herbs. On the fore-pallet there is blackberry jam, plum sauce, strawberry, and raisin; on the mid-palate there is hibiscus, nutmeg and vanilla. The finish has slowly vanishing jammy flavors with slowing gripping tannins. This is bold and high alcohol; so don't be fooled by the smooth, soft, and low acidity characteristics. Well above average California Zif, that's for sure!. Paired with PF Changs Mongolian Beef. Cheers.

First Postpartum wine.. I feel like I am not off my game. Let’s see. Dark fruits, cherries, ripe and fruit forward. On the nose, all I can smell is smoke and vanilla. So American oak... Did I nail it!? Paired it with sticky toffee pudding!

Delish. Light for a zin, but utterly delectable. Great w a meal - and yet complex enough to have on its own.

Decent full bodied Zin. Had with jalapeño bread and cheese spread then with some chili paneer for dinner. Bought at Costco ... good one to stock 4-6 bottles of.
