Fantastic new Zinfandel from the The Prisoner Wine Co! Extremely limited new release - get your allocation before it sells out. Saldo is a delicious blend of Zinfandel & Petite Sirah. Through the success of the Prisoner label, the winery has gained access to some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in Nothern California and made a high quality Zinfandel that doesn't fit the constraints of a single appelation. The result? SALDO. 93 Points Brix26: "The 2013 Saldo has a dark ruby color and intense aromas of dark cherry, cocoa powder and baking spice. The entry is rich and full, and leads into a broad mid palate with concentration and density, backed by lively acidity. The texture is soft and the tannins are polished. The finish is long with persistent notes of chocolate, berry and vanilla bean."

A Dave Phinney wine = a full throttle/extracted wine. Honestly, I feel like that style works best for zin. (Though I must say, his majority zin blend El Coco from his Crane Assembly label is deliciously elegant). This is an enjoyable jammy, peppery QPR zin that goes well with food or by itself. Blows heat and tastes hot, but wouldn't guess it was almost 16% ABV! Blackberries, licorice, and oak on the nose. Medium body and peppery on the palate, with a rush of blueberries, rhubarb and spice.

Thick and almost syrupy. Drier than previous years, esp on the finish. Plummy, too

11 years old. Good, not great. Still has some power, but also tame if that makes sense. @Alderwood Resort. paired with spaghetti and some Italian sausage.

My favorite wine it never disappoints. My go to every day wine. It's big and bold 15.7 but that's what I like!

Wow, absolutely perfect. A hint of oak, deep and richly fruity, I'd buy a case if I could or more. Last bottle now. Enjoying it immensely.
