A beatiful new Chardonnay release from The Ojai Vineyard. Limited 95 Points Antionio Galloni (Vinous): "A juicy, layered Chardonnay, the Bien Nacido is another drop-dead gorgeous wine. Apricot, peaches, honey and almond notes flesh out on the radiant, expressive finish. The 2011 is rich yet impeccably refined. Adam Tolmach gave the 2011 a few months in oak to soften some of the contours of the vintage, a decision that has paid off in spades. This is another winner from Ojai." The Bien Nacido vineyard is one of the older quality vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley. Tempered by the cool Pacific it is capable of producing lovely mineral Chardonnay if carefully tended to keep the California sunshine in check. The 2011 from Ojai is one such example with beautiful focuse, intensity, with good solid fruit, nicely integrated oak and fresh clean acidity underneath and providing beautiful counterpoint. Well done!

Big and rich with beautiful toast and fat yellow fruit. Despite its weight it is quite delicate on the palate with great acidic balance and depth of flavor. Toast, slight butter, yellow fruit, smoky mineral, and spice. A bit nervous still. A few years would do it well.

Yes people, this is me drinking a teeny glass of Chardonnay. Oh what a gal will do for her friends! Great balance - a well-crafted Chardonnay.
