New release of Sassicaia, the greatest Super-Tuscan from Italy. Limited.Sassicaia is the most iconic wine made in Italy today. It is the most collected Italian wine in the world and arguably could be the most famous wine in your cellar. This is the wine that all other Super Tuscans are based on and compared to and that made Bolgheri, on the coast of Tuscany, one of the most famous wine regions in the world today. Sassicaia 2011, a blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, comes from the region's best vintage in years. Perhaps Italy's greatest wine, order the classic new vintage while we have it available.99 Points "Cellar Selection" Wine Enthusiast: " One of Italy’s most iconic bottlings, the 2012 Sassicaia is drop-dead gorgeous. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, it boasts sensations of blue flowers, cedar, juicy red currants, ripe raspberries, white pepper and a balsamic note. Structured, radiant and loaded with finesse, it delivers everything you’d expect from a world-class wine and more. Drink 2018–2032." 95 Points James Suckling: "Lots of lavender, minerals and black currants on the nose. Turns to black berries. Full body, ultra-refined tannins and an exquisite finish. This is all about delicacy, finesse and grace. Yet there is a solid core of ripe tannins giving it backbone and outstanding form. Better in 2017 but so delicious already. A wonderful surprise."

Very classy yet pent up. Drinks pretty good now, but was opened way in advance of tasting. Reminded me of Heitz Martha's Vineyard a bit. Blackberries, medicinal herb, lavender, and fine tannins.

Imagine ripe blackberries bleeding into the wet ground - very earthy. One of my favorites

Going vertical w/ '13. It's been a night of mid-9's. Terroir is everything in this bottle - earthy, well balanced with great structure.

What an iconic wine. One could even say it was the catalyst in changing the Italian wine scene. Unfortunately I don't think this wine was showing its best today so a little bit hard to rate but none the less... Blackcurrant, raspberry, raspberry leaf, herbaceous and a smidge of oak. Impressively structured wine as one would expect, but wasn't forbidding.

Berries and herbs with perfect acidity...in a really good spot right now. This is a wine that most definately profits from a long decant! Went well with lamb
