New release of Sassicaia, the greatest Super-Tuscan from Italy. Limited.Sassicaia is the most iconic wine made in Italy today. It is the most collected Italian wine in the world and arguably could be the most famous wine in your cellar. This is the wine that all other Super Tuscans are based on and compared to and that made Bolgheri, on the coast of Tuscany, one of the most famous wine regions in the world today. Sassicaia 2011, a blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, comes from the region's best vintage in years. Perhaps Italy's greatest wine, order the classic new vintage while we have it available.96 Points International Wine Report: "The 2011 vintage can be considered one of the best in Bolgheri in over a decade and the 2011 Sassicaia has certainly benefited from these excellent conditions. This Sassicaia is absolutely sensational, it's wonderfully elegant and classy, yet with plenty of muscle. It immediately opens up with seductive aromas of freshly crushed blackberries and currants followed by pain grille, roasted coffee, graphite and minerals, which all come together beautifully. This possesses a gorgeous fine, velvety texture, showing remarkable balance and finesse that carries all the way through. It finishes up long, silky and caressing, leaving behind notes of pure dark fruits. Even at this young age, this is already offering so much and looks to be a Sassicaia that will be accessible early on. Composed of 85 % Cabernet Sauvignon 15 % Cabernet Franc (Best 2015-2027)." 95 Points Wine Spectator: "Ripe black cherry and blackberry flavors pick up accents of rosemary, mineral and spice in this red. Concentrated and intense, fresh and focused, leaning toward black currant and cedar notes on the solid finish. Racy midpalate. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2017 through 2030."

Impeccable balance. Elegant and complex. Will easily last a decade or more.

This thing is going to be so beautiful! Tart blackberries and ripe currants come together with lavender and rosemary to create a fresh, racy wine. The structure is seamless, and the palate is extremely focused. Not surprised.

Bolgheri isn't really my jam, but have to say it's a well made wine. Savory, balanced dark fruits, star anise, stone. Classic as it should be.

Color was a dense deep red with aromas of ripe dark fruits and forward spice. The flavors were fresh and concentrated with blackberries and cherries, complex palate, showing a nice mouthfeel. The tannins were a approachable but needs decanting. The ending had spice, ceda, leather and minerality on the lingering finish. An elegant wine that needs time to develop, try in another 3-5 years, although should last for a decade. Tasting Sample.
