Stuhlmuller Vineyards Reserve Estate Alexander Valley Chardonnay 2012

$45

A fantastic small-production Chardonnay!   Try it while it's still available. Stuhlmuller Vineyards is located at the southern edge of the Alexander Valley, where it converges with two other highly regarded Sonoma County appellations, Chalk Hill and the Russian River Valley. A great new small-production discovery for us, we highly recommend this Chardonnay.   A lovely golden-green color leads to warm, inviting aromatics of yellow pear, buttered peach, oatmeal and honeysuckle. On the palate, it offers a smooth, creamy texture, with rich layers of lemon custard, Asian pear, honey and hazelnut. This is a classically structured California Chardonnay with beautiful ripe fruit and well-integrated oak. Robert Parker: "These wines have shown consistently well in my tastings. Moreover, they represent excellent value for high quality."

Interesting wine, very lean and minerally plus a dose of French oak, not a casual sipping Chardonnay but worked better with food.
