Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

$99.99

A fantastic buy in Napa Valley Cabernet from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. The Stag's Leap ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon opens with intriguing plum, ripe fig and allspice aromas. On the palate, the wine offers flavors of ripe blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry and hints of cedar. There’s a nice palate weight and texture with ample, yet fine-grained tannins and a soft finish. This is part of Stag's Leap's Napa Valley Collection. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt to honor the winery's quest for the best grapes from the Napa Valley with which to blend with the winery's own fruit to create a Cab that is quintessentially Napa Valley.  This Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon offers pleasing aromas of black cherries, red plums, violets, nutmeg and sandalwood along with a hint of dried herbs. The cherry and plum notes carry over onto the palate and combine with ripe, mixed berries. The wine has a smooth, supple entry with good mid-palate structure with fine-grained tannins that lead to a lingering berry-cherry finish.

After opening a while, instead of improving, it turned slightly vegetable. Other than that, not horrible.

Blend of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot, aged in French oak for about 18 months, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, sweet spice and herbs. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with tobacco spice, toasty oak and floral notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, oak and mineral character, Nice, should age well.

Most complex Cab I’ve had from California. Wonderfully easy to drink, with a beautiful mix of fruit and spice. Recommend.

Probably said this before: pound for pound this is the best Napa Cab out there. This vintage specifically is riveting: bright dark fruit with incredible acidity and depth on the palate. Balanced, round tannins, medium alcohol and notes of fig and cedar on the medium plus finish. Yup, hats of to this pretty little dear in 2020.

Now we are taking about a new level of Cabernet Sauvignon. Forget all the basics you've seen before... A great experience with moderated tannins and it is good to think about the terroir of US for this Cabernet, which provides a good level of finesse.
