Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

$54.99

A fantastic buy in Napa Valley Cabernet from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. The Stag's Leap ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon opens with intriguing plum, ripe fig and allspice aromas. On the palate, the wine offers flavors of ripe blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry and hints of cedar. There’s a nice palate weight and texture with ample, yet fine-grained tannins and a soft finish. This is part of Stag's Leap's Napa Valley Collection. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt to honor the winery's quest for the best grapes from the Napa Valley with which to blend with the winery's own fruit to create a Cab that is quintessentially Napa Valley.  This Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon offers pleasing aromas of black cherries, red plums, violets, nutmeg and sandalwood along with a hint of dried herbs. The cherry and plum notes carry over onto the palate and combine with ripe, mixed berries. The wine has a smooth, supple entry with good mid-palate structure with fine-grained tannins that lead to a lingering berry-cherry finish.

This is a dead ringer for a mature Pessac-Leognan. Nose features intense cigar box, sweet cassis, sandalwood, and humus. Broad and soft mouth feel, with mature dark red fruit and lots of sandstony minerality.

The juice, the energy, the dammit I don’t want it to be so tasty but...Artemis got you. Because she’s a goddess and says so. I mean, there are other deities. Ones more powerful or whatevs but I’ll run through the woods with this for a night

Take some movie theatre buttered popcorn. Wring it out atop a blackberry crumble pie. That’s the nose. Fruit forwardly young. Definitely ageable. Blueberry and raspberry. Purchase to cellar for years to come.
