Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

$54.99

A fantastic buy in Napa Valley Cabernet from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. This ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon opens with intriguing plum, ripe fig and allspice aromas. On the palate, the wine offers flavors of ripe blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry and hints of cedar. There’s a nice palate weight and texture with ample, yet fine-grained tannins and a soft finish. This is part of Stag's Leap's Napa Valley Collection. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt to honor the winery's quest for the best grapes from the Napa Valley with which to blend with the winery's own fruit to create a Cab that is quintessentially Napa Valley.  This Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon offers pleasing aromas of black cherries, red plums, violets, nutmeg and sandalwood along with a hint of dried herbs. The cherry and plum notes carry over onto the palate and combine with ripe, mixed berries. The wine has a smooth, supple entry with good mid-palate structure with fine-grained tannins that lead to a lingering berry-cherry finish.

Oh quite nice. Similar in “inoffensive but not exceptional” notes as I felt about mag of Margaux. A lot more baking spice. A hint more texture which says maybe yes to some but I like a velvet texture but I asked this. It was an excellent foil to super-spicy and ultra-sweet cranberry: the baking spice sang. Good stuff for the tday dinner win.

Quick weekend getaway for the TCU vs Arkansas football game! Always a treat to come up to Fayetteville in the Ozark mountains! I'm a Razorback by marriage, even though I grew up near TCU. A wonderful and beautiful campus and amazing football atmosphere. Doe's Eat Place is a staple in Fayetteville. Picnic table tops, right off Dixon strip, fat steaks, and an actually decent wine list that is served in red plastic cups unless you buy by the bottle

One of my favorite Napa Cabernets. So pretty and elegant with the weight and power to match.
