Sonoma-Cutrer Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2016

$24.99

New release! The newest member of the lineup is the Sonoma-Cutrer 2016 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, an assemblage of select lots representing the best that the Sonoma Coast appellation has to offer. The backbone of this blend comes from the estate Cutrer vineyard, where vines struggle in alluvial soils and their Grand Cru approach to viticultural practices assures that only the finest fruit is the foundation for this offering. Vine Hill, with sandy, clay, loam soils adds significantly to the mix. Distinct aromas of ginger and lemon zest are joined by toasty coconut, melon and caramel alongside a mineral, flinty cedar-chest oakiness overlaid by notes of honeysuckle. In the mouth, a well-balanced wine with a solid acid backbone is rich, medium to heavy in weight with a broad yet still firm mid-palate. The finish is long and lingering and notable for a touch of spice and lively acidty. Flavors of lemon, apple, pear, pineapple and cantaloupe -- the full array of Sonoma's cornucopia of fruit, joins a nutty, spicy, lightly oaky profile that stakes out a unique territory sure to please those who love Chardonnay

My roommate kicked me out for enjoying this wine too loudly. I had to spend the night at a Kinko's.

Located in the cool Sonoma Coast viticultural region, founded in 1973 by Brice Cutrer Jones, now owned by big wine. Straw yellow with stone fruit aromas, citrus and oak with spice notes. On the palate apple and peach, complex, savory with toasty oak and nutty caramel flavors. Creamy texture, medium finish ending with mineral tones. Much better than ‘15.

Tasted kinda funky at first. Mellowed after opening up to a Romberer light.

This is one of my favorite Chardonnays. It's creamy and buttery and oaky with hints of straw, grass, apple and peach. Brightness with a mild acidity and so easy to drink.

Buttery oak but not much else going on. The finish falls off quickly and could use more acid.
