Sojourn Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

$54

Sojourn is a hot new Pinot producer and this beauty from the Sangiacomo Vineyard is a must-have - only 975 cases produced. 96 Points Pinot Report: "Deep ruby color; intense, complex aromas of cherry and leather with meaty notes; mouthfilling flavors of stewed cherry, leather and earth; very complex, great texture; great structure and balance; long finish. Intense, deep Pinot with so many interesting flavors and nuances. Really needs some air and time in the bottle to fully develop. Amazingly deep and complex, this is a Pinot that never ceases to impress me."The 2013 Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibits the lush creamy textures and dark red fruit flavors that fans have enjoyed in previous vintages. The warm 2012 growing season resulted in complex flavor development at optimal tannin levels. A small percentage of Swan clone was blended tothe traditional blend of clones 115 and 777.  The resulting wine is nicely balanced with seductive aromas of dark cherry, black tea, and earthy forest floor. Textures are creamy and silky with an extra level of elegance and finesse.  The 2012 Pinot Noir growing season was defined by good yields and ideal weather. Fantastic farming by the Sangiacomo Family ensured that the crop was in the best possible condition on pick day, resulting in a concentrated and luxurious wine. Dedicated work in the vineyard meant extended hang-time to provide smooth tannins and balanced structure alongside vibrant fruit and complex characters. 2013 is a fantastic Pinot noir vintage and we are especially proud of the Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot noir.

There’s something nicely mature about the Sangiacomo from Sojourn. It tastes somehow older than it is. Dried cherries and baking spice.

This drank like a fuller bodied Pinot. More substantial and great for post-dinner sipping.

Nice balanced fruit front and light alcohol finish. Little bite of spice. Preferring their SanGiacomo stock.
