Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

$119.99

New vintage of Silver Oak 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet now available. The Silver Oak Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is more limited in availability than the Alexander Valley.  Selected from vineyards throughout the appellation, it is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Full-bodied, chewy, and muscular with an inky dark ruby/plum color, and hints of wood smoke, tobacco, cinnamon, espresso roast, and herbs, this dense, chewy, lavishly oaked wine should drink well for 10-12 years. Winemaker Daniel Baron's Tasting Notes: "Our 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has an opaque crimson color with a purplish hue. The alluring nose draws you in with notes of cassis, black cherry, pipe tobacco, salted caramel, cocoa beans and fresh strawberry. This full-bodied wine enters with a depth of flavor and offers mouth-coating, velvety tannins and flavors of cream soda and red fruit. Black currant and vanilla notes crescendo through the palate to the lengthy finish. This wine is drinkable upon release, but given proper cellaring conditions can be enjoyed through 2040."

Big juicy, fruit forward powerful black anf blue fruits, jammy, but holds thru the whole palette. Tannins and acid in balance and enough to stand up tonthe alcohol. Baking spices, vanilla, dill bring it all together...i miss American oak..

Blend of 78% Cab Sauv, 12% Merlot, 7% Cab Franc, 2% Petit Verdot & 1% Malbec, deep Ruby red, concentrated youthful aromas of ripe black fruit, subtle nutty spice & creamy chocolate. Aged 24 months, 85% new & 15% 1-year used American oak. On the palate fresh fruit flavors of sweet plum, black cherry & dried blackberries, with bits of oak & cacao trying to peek through. Tannins are present, but just a tad persistent, reflecting its youth. Long & elegant finish with vanilla & slight mineral tang. Drinks well now, continue to develop over the next 15-20 years, why wait it’s perfect now! Outstanding! Tasting Sample!

I’ve always leaned towards the Alexander Valley wines but I’m a sucker for any Silver Oak. Nose, palette, finish all there and singing together. Love the traditional style.
