New vintage of Silver Oak 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet. The Silver Oak Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is more limited in availability than the Alexander Valley. Selected from vineyards throughout the appellation, it is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Full-bodied, chewy, and muscular with an inky dark ruby/plum color, and hints of wood smoke, tobacco, cinnamon, espresso roast, and herbs, this dense, chewy, lavishly oaked wine should drink well for 10-12 years. Winemaker Daniel Baron's Tasting Notes: "Our 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a seamless wine that expresses bright, fresh fruit characters from an unusually cool California vintage. It has a vibrant, ruby color and a complex nose of boysenberries, blueberries, sage, licorice and roasted chicory. It has a luscious mouthfeel with notes of fresh fruit and carnation flowers on the palate. It has fine-grained tannins and a velvety texture that leads to a long, fruit-filled finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2031."

Spectacular vintage! Drinkable now and for the next several decades.

We decanted for about an hour in advance. Hint of cherry, lots of cassis/black currant, a faint thinned-butterscotch at the start of the finish. Oak seems present but not overbearing. An extremely enjoyable wine that felt balanced and complete.

my favorite wine out there. 9.9 rating. the only reason it's not a 10 is because I've had the privilege of drinking the '06

Surprisingly expressive aromas but a bitter 'green' quality and tightly closed tannins will require a few more years of rest in bottle or a few hours to breathe in glass.
