New release! The new vintage of Silver Oak's iconic Alexander Valley Cabernet now available! The Silver Oak 2018 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 94.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.2% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. After blending in early 2019, the 2018 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was transferred to American oak barrels from the wineries cooperage, The Oak, where it aged for 18 months. Blending before barrel aging—a signature of our winemaking style—allows blends to be based on the inherent qualities of their vineyard components before oak influence. Vintage to vintage, the resulting Cabernets emerge integrated and ready to drink upon release. Robert Parker: "The Silver Oak Alexander Valley cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new oak... Herbaceous, with sweet red and black currant fruit, spice box, and tell-tale oakiness, this is a wine to drink during its first decade of life

Always a solid Sonoma cab. Some anise and dark fruit, dark chocolate and anise. Slight bit of dill and vanilla. Drinks young, this could go for a bit longer. Good strong tannins but smooth enough to balance my prime rib.

Very nice cab with dark fruit and anise in the nose and palate.. high tannins, so needed extensive decanting. This opened up the fruit which also revealed blackberries and dark plums. A slight hint of mushrooms. Went very well with a lasagna made with a rich Bolognese sauce.
