Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2014

$49

93 Points Parker                                  If you love Pinot and have yet to discover Siduri, do yourself a favor and get on the bandwagon while available! Husband and wife team of Diana and Adam Lee are turning out some of California's finest Pinot Noirs in very small quantities. Only 387 cases produced. 94 Points Robert Parker:  "Another gorgeous barrel sample, the 2014 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard offers the tell tale freshness and purity of the vineyard to go with a medium-bodied, finely balanced, clean and seamless feel on the palate. Possessing nicely integrated acidity and a great finish, it, like more 2014s, will be hard to resist on release... ...While recently sold to Kendall-Jackson, Siduri’s founder, Adam Lee, remains firmly onboard as winemaker and doesn’t have any plans of walking away soon. While it’s difficult to see the impact of the sale at the moment, I think Adam is making better wines today than he ever has."

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium intensity. Sweet nose of bing cherries, vanilla, earth, licorice, wood, light vegetables, chocolates and black pepper. Medium bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and nice legs. Dry on the palate with cherries, blueberries, sweet raspberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, earth, herbs, light bitter vegetables, black tea, chocolates and peppercorn. Medium-plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a nice Pinot Noir from California. Well balanced with nice complexity, and enjoyable by itself or with food. Fruity with earthy notes, and a little bit of alcohol at the ending. Could use a couple of years in the bottle to mature, but already drinking really nicely. This is not my usual style, but I really enjoyed it. Wine Spectator 89 points. 14.4% alcohol by volume. $35.

This #PinotNoir has incredible balance. Strong berry and purple flower aromas. Palate is smooth with a mid that starts deep with dark fruits and finishes with a lift of bright cherry. Subtle earth and mild delicate tannin. Food worthy for heartier dishes. Opened 2/17/17
